Well, as of monday morning, my first south dakota duck hunting season is in the books. Nice warm weather and then BOOM.
HELLO WINTER. Shot my last two mallards monday morning, in blowing snow and -17 windchill. I had to pack it in because the blowing snow was freezing my eyelashes closed.
Final tally for my greenhorn ass was 48 ducks. 28 water retrieves and 20 in the snow for my 7 month old pup. All hunting solo saturday and Sundays mornings and two weekday hunts.
I had such a great time, and my pup is coming along so nicely, ive decided to load the trailer and head south. Im hitting 1-29 and headed to some warmer weather in se kansas. Ive got some friends down fort scott way.....wish me luck.
