Looked to me like Carrol manned up and fell on that sword while "wasting a play" on second and one in the final seconds of the SB. Mighty easy to second guess in any event, but would have been "genius" in the media if Butler's timing wasn't so sweet.

I think it was a great decision! It kept the score where it needed to be for my 4th quarter victory.

I can't say what the media would or would not have said.
But to roll the dice like that when you have a top notch running back 36inchs from the goal was idiotic even if the pass would have been successful that was still a bad call.

I have to give it to the Shore Birds , they're a very strong team both defensively and offensively.....But , what was
lacking with the sideline call ? When the only Back is spread to the left it gives the Patriots a clue , it's a inside pass
play coming and the straight-up pass blocking , kinda gave it away !

I really have to give the Linebackers credit for being so alert in recognizing what was about to happen , with Lynches
first move and the offensive Line holding tight , Butler became a Star ?

And the Shore Birds....Fly Home....Looking at Carol , quietly ?

It's so obvious, even Legband gets it!

This being one of the Smartest coaches in the NFL , along with having a Staff that ( tells him what to do ) has shown
how you can out-smart yourself ? The sorry part of this ONE PLAY , is the entire TEAM has to live with it for ever !
I'm sure Sherman had something to say after the out-come , along with , ALL the effort the Defense put into this game ?

Maybe they watched to many 49 'er Films on how to Out-Smart yourself......and it Stuck ?
