bitter sweet hunt this morning

I decided to be late for work this morning and sneek in a hunt with my brother. Pre shooting time we had several flocks of birds working our spread. By the time LST came along we had 60 - 80 ducks in the decoys. It was extra dark this morning so we opted to hold off on the shooting for about 15 minutes. Waited for the majority to leave so we didn't burn em all on the first shot, then we picked them off when they came back in smaller groups. Ended up shooting 11, I think we had a new push come in.

I don't usually post personal shit like this but, about 0740 one of my best friends (who is stationed in San Diego) called to tell me that his dad, who has been in ICU for the last 6 weeks, passed early this morning. Its too bad, he was a good guy. Hell, he and I even did a few hunting and fishing trips while my buddy gone over seas.

I'm not churchy, but my buddy could use your thoughts.

Pics later

Thanks guys. I've been kind of expecting the phone call to come in, just hoped it wouldn't. Its always bad news when someone spends that much time in ICU. I know my buddy is taking it rough though.

Prayers Sent, I feel for you man I was woke up at 0300 to a phone call telling me that a coworker was killed in a car crash last night. I've known the guy since high school and I can honesty say he was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Hunt as much as you can boy's! We are all on a timer...

Sometimes I say to myself "Just stop it and change the subject, look around! Your healthy and this is all part of it. Celebrate a long life and learn to celebrate the others around you stronger." Then I look out in the yonder and see if there are any convenient stores where they got normal 6'ers. How the hell can any of us be expected to be strong a midst all this. I really think the best tribute you can give to a loved one at death is to grow stronger from it.

AT might be levitating in the barn right now as we speak cuz he found out his wife voted for O'bama. We dont know. Prayers sent 3leg.

Somewhere in there is a coherent, sincere thought-- Thanks, I think.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers.
