Duck Soup

It's a marx brothers movie. Really funny but...
If you want to make duck soup I got a pretty good recipe.
First you have to go kill some ducks.
Then you clean em and...
Go to the store and buy a box of Quaker Quick Barley. It's 11 ounces and I have no idea where she finds the stuff. By the rice?
There's a recipe for "Quick 'N Hearty Vegetable Barley Soup" on the back of the box or was.
Heck I'll copy it here for you.
1/2 pound ground beef (that's what you substitute the duck for but use a pound and cube it up in nice little bite-size pieces)
1/2 chopped onions
1 clove garlic (minced)
5 cups water
1 (14.5 ounce) can tomatoes
3/4 cup Quaker quick barley
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced carrots
2 beef bullion cubes
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 (9 ounce) package mixed frozen vegetables
In a 4-quart sauce pan or dutch oven brown your meat (duck). Add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is tender. Drain
Stir in remaining ingredients except frozen vegetables. Cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Add frozen vegetables. Cook another 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Additional water may be added is soup becomes to thick upon standing. Makes 8 (1 cup) servings.
It's good. Ask my grandson or just make some and try it.
