Well, someone has to get this thing started.
Daybreak, on the 6th day with the scroter last season.

Fine. Since the theme this month seems to be blind shots, here's mine (although Goldie's is so good, it should probably just win right now). I've always liked this one, because it sort of sums up the empty places only duck hunters get to experience.

Assa is that all froze up except for your little hole?

Oh, and thanks guys. Like I said first year out. Spot had some birds come thru, but it was prettier than it was productive, lol. Year after we hit the next lake over running the channel between the two and the fog was so thick that when I was trying to cross that lake to get there I almost went head first into reeds at 3/4 throttle.

Yeah, took me about 45 minutes to stomp and clear that hole. And didn't even shoot.

That's because you left a trail going to the hole from where you were! You gotta do a belly slide to the spot you want, then break the hole you want, then shimmy back out on your belly.

Or just bust out around the perimeter of a big area, then slide the remaining slab of ice under the outer ice.

Salt water. No such thing as "the big slab". Saltwater ice is pretty mushy, slushy crap.

And your hole moves quite a bit, too, with the wind and tide.

In sticking with the theme, here is one from the pit.

Live birds. Swam 25 yards out from the pit. Of course, it was during the speck/snow only spring season.

No you can submit a waterfowl photo of any topic from any time. Just has to be related to waterfowl.

HAHA...that was her first hunt at 12weeks old. Brought her along just to expose her and see how she reacted. She technically got her first retrieve that day. My FIL's dog brought a duck back to the boat, as soon as she saw it in the bottom of the boat she dragged it over to me. She couldn't even come close to picking it up.
