New with Jon Boat

Hello everyone,

New to duck hunting this season and plan on using my 10' Jon Boat that I bought last year that I have normally been fishing out of. I'm basically asking for your knowledge in regards to what is required by law and recommended with the boat while heading to the blind. We won't be shooting out of it, but using it to get to a spot to setup a blind. It can fit two people. I'm in NE FL if that is of any reference to specific laws. I bought this from previous owner who used it specifically for duck hunting. Thanks for any help!

Don't know about down there, but up here you need wearable PFD for each passenger, a throwable, a fire extinguisher, flares, and a horn/whistle.
Best bet would be to get ahold of the coast guard and find out for you specific area.

I don't know about fl laws but as long as you each have a life jacket you should be ok.

All the stuff I said was for navigational waters. If you just inland, then the life jackets should be it.

There are a lot of marshes around here that are on navigational waters that you would need a boat like that to get around.

Same here. I have to have all that crap in the hybrid. I need a tender just to tote the coast required shit.

I've got a 10footer with a scissor blind that I hunt out of with the dog. I use it for smaller water so you should be fine. In NH we need to carry everything the CG requires on federal waters. Check with you local F&G. And dont forget, if your running at night you'll need lights.

Around St. Augustine area, inland area where there won't be any big boats. After doing a bunch of searching, I think I'll just need a spotlight and a running light.

I would think you'd also be required to have a pfd for each person too.
