Kill snares. I like the BMI locks, if you ever get the option.

Is it hard to use snares for beaver? Doesn't look like they have much of a neck to lock down on.

I full time trap for a living and I never leave home without snares. Beaver have a perfect body for snares when use correctly. I have caught 75 pound beaver all the way down to 10 pound beaver in snares kill and live snares (relaxing lock). Matter of fact I like snares the best when I am cleaning up the mess of a previous adc trapper.

Just a couple of many I have caught with snares.

Do you try and get them around the armpits, or is it possible to get them on the neck?

Just heard that fur prices are probably going in the shitter. Apparently, almost all the Chinese buyers are in iail for not paying import fees on their furs. Hadn't been doing it for a couple years.

So now, the buyers that are left won't have as much to spend because they'll HAVE to pay their fees, since the government has cracked down.

Amazing how government anywhere just can't help but fuck with people.

See this? They've all been flipped fur side out. Know what that means? I haven't caught shit in forever!

This is a shot of the coons. I made some wood stretchers, to see if there really was a difference, and there is for sure. The coons were alternated- catch one, put it on wire, the next on wood, and back and forth. The ones on wood are a good cream color, and almost dry. The wire stretched ones stayed grayish. Probably end up being a $4-$5 difference, so I think I'm gonna invest in a full sheet of plywood and make some more after this season.

The wood definitely looks better. Plywood seems to be a pain in the ass. Some pine might be better if you can't find basswood.
I'm not sure if the Chinese buyers thing is really gonna be a big deal but I do foresee an adjustment on prices. We need china and Russia to get cold!

Finally. First one in 3 weeks, but it's too little too late, at least for this sale.

No kidding. Unfortunately, it's now raining like three motherfuckers outside, and is supposed to continue until tomorrow. At least I got all my coon traps out yesterday, finally, so hopefully they'll produce a little while my mud holes are drying.

I think he was probably the oldest fox I've caught. Seemed to be 4, based on the ball theory, which my neighbor told me years ago and seems to hold true.

Only applies to red foxes, though:
Small furry balls-1
Large furry balls-2
Large balls starting to thin out-3
Large balls with a bald spot bigger than a quarter-4
And so on.

Careful Montana, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw vaginas.

Then leaving a snail trail when they slide down, like the pickle race on Billy Madison.

Hopefully this means it'll pick back up.

And all the rain last night darn near turned this regular coon set into a drowning set. He had the cable wrapped around those two smaller branches behind him. I had to lean on that small broken off "stump" to reach it, since the water was over my boots. Well, the damn thing broke when I leaned on it, and I had to do some Matrix shit to keep from going in face first. Which caused my back to hurt again, so I'm back to square one, all for a coon with his tail chewed off. Oh well.

Did the fox created that circle around him, or is that a part of the set?

No, that's what they make while pulling on the trap. You rebuild the set right in the middle back where it was, because while they're making that circle, they're putting their scent and pissing all over, which usually leads to more catches.

Just bagged up my furs for the first sale pickup tomorrow. My wall is bare again, and it's always depressing.

You could've told us that pic was your dad and it was taken in 1974, and I wouldn't have argued.
