Critique these 2 snares

I set these out this morning. They are about 50 yards apart on the same trail. In between them is a bucket set for coon with beaver and bacon grease for bait. I put a dab of gusto up on a willow above the bucket. There was old fox traps on the trail.

My only critique us why in the hell would you waste bacon grease :)

Look like pretty good spots to me! I like to stake mine closer to the loop, so the set can be more "upright" if that makes sense. I like the lock to be more level (actually a little past level) so it's more inclined to stay open rather than drop closed. I use the wire stand to get the angle how I want it.

Re-reading this, it doesn't make much sense. Maybe I'll go outside and take a pic. Probably is worth 1,000 words.

Here's how I do mine. Obviously, if the grounds too frozen to get a stake in, that may change it a but. I like this angle better, because if something just bumps it, or a coon wiggles under, it'll stay set instead of falling closed. Just what I like, but everybody has their own way. Hope you snag something tonight!

For the wire, I bend an extra step in, so there are two points in the ground. Keeps the wire from spinning in the wind or if something brushes it. I step on the flat part right where my index finger is.

That's what I'm hearing . Put the lock at 10 or 11 o'clock instead of noon. I was trying to make it close as fast and easy as I could but from what you and others say I'll be getting nuisance tripping. Next time I check it I think I will adjust it. Prob gonna give it a couple days before checking. I have 2 get pretty close to check due to the cover.
I can't drive stakes. I used wire on the willow to support on my whammy and attached the snares high on a stout willow for anchor

Same here. That's pretty much what keeps me from trapping.
