That's true, but there is just to much hassle involved while I am still moving at such a hectic pace.

As soon as I have a job I'm happy with in a location I like, I will buy a house then a dog.

No kidding. I had a Lotus Europa, a souped up Charger and a Brittany spaniel in college, and there was no question, whatsoever, which had the most draw.

(That was before the American Brittany Club amputated the "spaniel" from their name.)

The gals the Lotus snagged weren't nearly as sweet as the ones that went for the pup. And when I tell you it's physically impossible to have sex in a Lotus Europa, I mean you'll hurt yourself trying.

But the ones that went for the lotus were more likely to put out on the first date.

I'm thinking they got the change in 1980, but could well be wrong. Graduated college in '77 (after a stint in the Army), so, yep, I'm old.

She's just old - turned 13 last month. Half blind, completely deaf, stiff as a 90 year old but otherwise showing no major issues.

No. I very nearly got another out of Kie's niece(?) and DC/AFC The Whiz Kid several years back, but "life" stepped in and saved me from more of the bittersweetness that is running a pointing dog with wheels in a landscape now devoid of quail. Which were actually the birds, along with woodcock, that initially held me up in Louisiana instead of moving on to ND, not waterfowl. Was great fun while we had quail, but after bigger plows and more cows scrubbed them from the landscape, it ate my lunch to watch a pointing dog work its buns off for not unless the woodcock are down. (Working our preserve was like watching Michael Jordan pick turnips and NSTRA much the same.)

Anyway, while I could never have imagined saying it until not so long ago, I don't expect to own another pointing dog.

Hate to hear that, couldn't imagine not owning, or needing a pointing dog. Unfortunately I don't see that trend reversing. Was a factor in me getting a griffon, my pointing dog is also my reteiever. Without waterfowl his first two years would have been boring.

I love the analogy of Michael Jordan, preserves, and nstra!

Really? When u were with me last week you should have paid better attention. When I was your age I loved upland hunting, too.

You said you couldnt imagine not having a pointing dog.

If you would have seen me hunting 15 years ago, you would see someone who liked upland hunting.

Now you see me with a dog that wont point, looking to sell a great upland shotgun.

IMAGINATION .....

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Savvy? OR am I speaking Aunt Betty talk right now?
