Finally got Taz to the lake yesterday, first time since warm weather has arrived. Also a great time for a bath.

From the look on his face, seems the turtle might have pissed in his mouth.

I'd not rule that out, but suspect it more mortification at being photographed with a crumby turtle while banknote's dog gets sprig.

Went south down the valley with a buddy to get some live birds and train on some unfamiliar ground. Had a great day working on extending marks, a few blinds and holding steady on the shot. I was very happy with his pickup and hold of the live birds, which all came back relatively healthy on his retrieves. My buddy's 20 month old GSP wasn't quite so gentle, but did some great work, too. The old Brittany was happy enough to watch and shiver.

I wrote this poem six months before I knew my dog Lexi was sick. I went back and read it after she died and cried some more. If it's too long, forgive me but knowing how people feel about their dogs, thought I might share. He was there most times they remembered, Season after season in his blind; A duck man known for his love it, Pretty good after his own kind; His dog always knew they were going, She followed him around excitedly; The was nowhere that he went without her, And nowhere she'd rather be; Their friendship was totally soothing, He would pet her as she lay at his feet; Between seasons they did things together, But hunting was when things got so sweet; Their eyes scanned the heavens together, Looking for the movement of wings; She saw them most times before he did, He could see them in her eyes as they'd swing; They would soon grow older together, From young man and puppy alike; He could tell he wasn't so young now, And she was far from being a tyke; Her muzzle was gray, her bright eyes glazing, He moved slower as they moved around; She was still excited to go with him, Even if she couldn't hear every sound; The day was coming and they knew it, Cause life never seems very kind; When only one of the loving old friends, Would be sitting in an old empty blind. Like I said, hope this is the place for that and it wasn't too long, just seemed like the time to share. I tried to put it in poem form but it didnt come out that way. Ray Finchum
