I wish I could find some water around that didn't have gators in it.

It's a bigger problem then I really thought it was going to be. Every body of water I've been to as a potential training spot. I'll sit and watch the water from the bank and always see gators.

As soon as the water temp gets below 60 from what I hear and from what I've read on the Internet. If I can find a smaller pond that wouldn't be big enough to support a big gator that'd be good too. Public land around here is far and few between though.

TRUE STORY-

Last week the county next to me and jarbo had a gator found in a lake there.

It was shot, and it recovered from the wound.

5 days a week. All I've had to adjust for field work is the amount of time, with the heat and humidity the dog can only do about a 20 min session.

There is an abandoned ball field not far from my house we've been using.

Olly, there's surely a retriever club around whose contact can point you to safe water. Know the Hunting Retriever Club has a website with club contact info listed and would think the AKC clubs have a similar listing.

Maybe your landlord wouldn't mind if you rented a bobcat and dug out a small pond in the back yard?

That would be sweet and Rick I'm looking into that idea right now.

Owner Of The Atchison County Lake Alligator Has Come Forward

By: WIBW (Kion Hudson)

Updated: Sun 1:48 PM, Aug 11, 2013

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Waylon Saxton the owner of the alligator that was shot and wounded in the snout before being rescued from Atchison County Lake has been located, interviewed and unlikely to face charges.

Fishermen spotted the three-foot-long alligator Saturday. Atchison County officials captured it and took it to a sanctuary in Missouri.

Experts say the bullet traveled between the gator's eyes through its body, but he is expected to recover.

Saxton did apologize for the hassle and apologized for not reporting it three weeks ago. He said he was fearful that someone would kill Cletus.

He does plan on bringing Cletus back home. Saxton did state that if he ever decided to put Cletus outside again it would be a secured pen where others would not have access.

Alligators are not on the dangerous regulated animals list in Kansas and there is no law that governs possession of alligators at this time.

Yea it really does suck. There is a local park tht has a small pond but tons of dog on leash signs around. Might have to start breaking the law.
