Nice. I hope like hell my girl will be ready this year. She's coming off the table probably next week. Really hoping she progresses well and has a chance to retrieve a duck or two this year.

You'll be surprised at how well they know their training. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I think she's ready now. But it can't hurt to have another week of reinforcement before coming down. She's got all the drive in the world. I think she's going to make an awesome dog. May not win any ribbons, but she will go get me a duck. And is a kickass pet.

Don't worry about your dog being ready for their first season, it is nothing but training sessions in real situations.
Sounds like she is off to a good start. Work on OB and let her be a young pup, next spring the real training kicks in.

Jarbo is spot on and it is harder than it sounds to follow through with, for me at least. Had the pup on three hunts so far, one dove and two teal. He knocked the dove hunt out of the park quick hunt and minded well. The teal hunts have been longer and I'm positive the different environment throws him off as well. He gets very restless and wants to be balls deep in the water. I just made sure to give him breaks from time to time to walk the shore line and burn energy. You want so bad for them to sit and obey like you know they can and will they just need time.

Eff a horse. I was so relieved when some mechanic told the wife that her upper ball joints were too shot to try and pull the gooseneck until they're fixed. I told her I'd get around to it in about 11 months.

If my wife wasn't going to pull my gooseneck until I fixed her ball joint I would be on it tonight before she went back to the "mechanic"
I got a 5 spot assa has another horse by summer next, any takers?

No, he won't take a deposit until she's confirmed bred.
Jarbo, yes, Brian.
Jehler, if it means no more horses, I'll agree to no more sex ever. We can never go anywhere because of those damn things.
