This gives me a very interesting idea. Very interesting.

I wouldn't try it. You'll have to pay a double rain tax.

My fishing license is good until Dec 31st. I doubt it says anywhere in the regs that I can't fish with a decoy. For the record, "I doubt it" certainly doesn't mean it's not in there anywhere. But I'm not gonna look. I'm thinking of just putting a small leader on the loop at the anchor of a few, baited with a little piece of shrimp or something. It'll be awesome.

It would basically be a fancy jug line. If those are legal I don't see why fishing with decoys would be a problem.

Well, jug lines and trot lines are illegal, so I would have to also string a small piece of mono at least somewhere near the blind. But I think if it's attended, it doesn't count as a jug line. Since you can have 4 surf rods out, and you're not actually "fishing" them all at once, I don't see what the difference really is. I'm still gonna do it, though.

Run the mono from the decoy to one of your fishing rods and say the decoy is your cork.

Is your name written on the decoys? If a big fish grabs one, and ends up on shore with your name on it, you might be busted...

Until you hook into a big cat and that sumbitch takes off with it and goes to thrashen. May have more motion than you bargained for. Course you'd have some good eaten.

Why the heck would my name be written on my decoys? Hell, why would my name be written on anything? You obviously follow more game laws than I do, wanting to have your name all over stuff and whatnot.

I'd bet that I follow more game laws than you, but my name is not on my decoys.

A lot of guys do for some reason. Wasn't sure if it was an old Mexican tradition that you follow

Three years ago at a NWR I found a bag if decoys where a truck had been parked. Had stopped and talk to the youngsters who had just finished hunting. None of the decoys or bag was marked. Posted all over in forums, called the local GWs, area DU and never did locate the owner. Kept the bag and gave the decoys away to a young kid just getting started.

Blessings,
Rick

We left a half dozen teal decoys in the water one time because of a storm. I had everyone sitting on the floor of the boat all the way in.
We knew the storm was brewing and was coming but, the wind direction they predicted was considerably different than what hit us from across open water.

Yeah, I hunt the Washington side so it's the south/west winds that make for a ride back to the launch fun. Also, We wade into that place as well and the freaking ice was getting pushed on top of ice sheets. Shit cut our waders and bruised our shins and thighs. That was a race then too.

I love hunting in the wind. I wish I could post videos because I have one of me and juice box hunting a 50 Mph wind last year. It's great

Hunting the ice is my favorite. Birds move all day in the marsh. It's a trade off though. If its storming the rice does better.

I've killed more mallards in the cold weather then any other kind. A high Fog is my second choice.

Fog is good too. Especially when they are loafing on the big water and come off in small flocks.
