New blood and growth is directly related to WFF's life span. You guys will make it last as long or as short as you want by the way you treat new members.

I gotta agree with reds thread starter, it goes a long way with a new member to give'em a warm welcome in the Introduce yourself thread.

Frylock hit the nail on the head. While I am not the type to get railroaded by a buncha duck dicks on the interwebz it was pretty cool to see how many actually responded when I posted in the intro thread. This is the only forum of which I am a part that I have seen this type of greeting.

I think, for the most part, the newby forum is treated kinda like the greenhorn forum with very little ball busting. When there is any it is mostly directed at the usual duck dicks here. I think most of us make it a point to go in there and welcome newbies at some point, not necessarily always or every day though.

An issue has come up that needs to be addressed. The issue is the treatment of new members. This public announcement is more of a reminder to current members, as the issue hasn't gotten outta control. We just would rather head it off before it gets there.



Boys, our forum's growing. We're seeing increased numbers of guys showing up and asking questions, whether it's advice or about specific ideas, equipment, etc.

But guys who really wanna have a good time, won't come to a slaughter house.

Let the new member get grounded before we derail his threads and make fun of his funny Montanan accent and chicken farmer career choice.

We just want these guys to return feeling welcomed. And it won't happen if five posts into his first thread we're comparing FF's sister to Rex's gigantic ego.

Which raises another point...our New Members Introduce Yourselves thread. Go outta your way to just say "welcome" or even "x2." Just something to acknowledge a newb for doing what he's supposed to...introducing himself. And if ya feel so inclined, take it a step further and ask him what he hunts, his favorite color, if he's from Montana or Texas, is he a cop, etc.

Guys reaching out like this goes a long ways.

Please use restraint when these guys show up and are just trying to get to know us. For some it takes awhile. For others like Gila, Hudson, Ohio and Frylock, it'll only take five minutes before it's game on. But use your best judgement.

We were all newbs once.

Hey while you're online. I got an okay for a layout boat and a dozen deeks for the hunt. I might try to modify my quad trailer and bring a pod too. Then two guys can layout for the birds in the middle and keep them moving toward the guys on shore. So whadayathink'bout that?
