East German Parts Kit
Polish 80% bent blank
-All holes drilled (though the FCG and center support are not drilled to size yet).
-Mag fits perfect (had to adjust the front trunnion forward a bit, but should not be an issue).
-Will be heat treating the ejector part of the lower rails after work, to be spot welded into the receiver later on.
-The pic is just test fitting certain parts. Some are in temp, some are just laying on (rear sight block and dust cover).
Certainly a fun little project. Less the time (which I don't count against it), it will end up being less than half the cost of a new one right now... but about the same/ a little more than you could get a low end one for a few years ago. I'll be keeping the plastic stock- even though I don't like it, it is part of what makes it keep its history as an East German AKM.
Doing the barrel/headspace is probably going to be the most difficult task.
