Had three cranes fly over this morning while we were hunting, made me think of you PorkChop, they were mighty high it took me a while to find them... They are noisy...

Yes he is, I guess I didn't clarify that was our last day, I'm not very good at this posting... We are looking forward to our next trip back, probably the 26th... We stay in a real small town and there's not many places to eat, they seem to close the doors for any reason especially around the holidays, and I don't blame them... I have a little bit of work to do tomorrow, Trigger and I will try the ducks Thursday, no scouting so we're going to rely on good luck...

Don, those are Oklahoma Bob White's if you were closer we would go hunt them, I couldn't guarantee you we'd kill any, but I could guarantee you we would do a lot of walking following a speckledy dog with boots on...

After scouting yesterday, I'm going to cautiously say we have some new birds?
But wouldn't have a clue which direction they came from...

Trigger and I are going to give them a go in the morning, we'll see how these so-called new birds act?

The birds that I've been killing are within 15 minutes after legal shooting time, (I call it shooting them in the dark) hence the brown... Hunted till 11:00 yesterday thinking I would get that last one (wrong)... Scouted afterwards and it made for a long day... But I do have birds to play with and that's a good thing, I just don't know how to kill them...

North south east or west, you’ll take em! Maybe some Christmas calendar migrators.

It's rained here most of the day and I went out to the truck to get the thermos for in the morning... Checked the rain gauge while I was out there and have received 2 in... Kind of sort of looked at the radar and most of Louisiana received some rain today, hopefully it's filling those marshes, and if we get the right kind of weather ducks will be heading farther south...

I probably won't have time in the morning before I leave, so Merry Christmas!

Seasoned move there. Years ago I was hunting with Olly down on the coast. 20 degrees and a north wind whipping that had the delta waters white capping. I had the feeling I should’ve pulled the plug but I didn’t have a reverse gear then. We came around out from the sheltered launch area and the water was so low that I was hitting bottom in places I never fathomed I would. About a half mile into our journey prop hit a sand bar and killed the engine right as we took a breaker over the bow, then another. Thankfully, the motor cranked back up, I flipped on the bilge, and we headed back to the ramp. I was back in bed before sunrise. Lesson learned.

There is a closer ramp that I could have used, but you have to get the gate attendant up at 6:00 a.m. sometimes? Just didn't feel right bothering them on Christmas morning...

Made the trek this morning, the wind was strong but not wrong, we were wet by the time we got there, and even wetter by the time we got back to the ramp... No scouting...
