I cant wait for duck season, there is something about a cool fall morning, maybe it is the brisk breeze, the fog hanging over the water, or that smell in the air, I don't know what it is but it gives me an overwhelming sense of comfort.

Best time of the year and it is almost hear (here)....

For me it's the cool mornings, the sage smell of the Sutter buttes come fall and the sounds of arriving specks coming over the house. The feeling has always been un describable for me but comfort, ease and home is the best I can do.

The Smell of fresh cut rice, and Decomp water flooding the refuge wetlands and early harvested rice fields. The August Sprig making their first appearance. The west side getting covered up with specks during harvest and the sound of SandHilll Cranes floating over the club while I'm plotting on an early October Buck.    It almost brings a tear to my eye.

The sound of sandhill cranes doesn't go away, you can still hear them when laying in bed that night. Loud annoying fuckers, can't wait to hear them again.

I've always liked the sound of sandhills, even though we can't shoot them. But it's the specks that get to me. Spotting the first bunch of the new Fall without being able to hear them is even more frustrating than hearing them without being able to see them.

I set aside my first $100 the other day just for this trip! Gonna keep saving so I'll be there for sure.

That was the plan. I'm ok with changing the dates to accomodate everyone. We can find a few birds and have fun regardless of the conditions.
