Not really a purchase, but the wife got me a RNT DC Timber Hawg for our anniversary, pretty pumped.

Agreed, although she's kicking herself now because I told her she now has no excuses for not wanting to come into Cabelas/Bass Pro/Scheels with me since she picked up this idea when I drug her in with me one day.

Haha... I know, but when we decided to do this stuff I would have never thought the lures would be this much of the cost.
So far we have 10 flies and 10 spoons, we have a long way to go. Probably need to double that over the next few months.

Most kinds are not near as expensive as this.

True. I don't think I've spent more that $15 in the last two years on fishing gear, and most of that was live bait.

Bass fishing and trolling have to be the most expensive kinds of fishing next to running nets.

Why bass fishing? Sipnners and plastics are cheap and last a while.

Where I fish, Red River where they have the bassmaster tourneys, gets a ton of fishing pressure so you gotta go different than spinners, buzzbaits and plastics don't last at all.

You're doing it wrong! Need to find a nice little lake or pond, and catch them the easy way.

I've got plenty of them and when I do fish em. Typically it's a H&H tandem blade spinner chartreuse/white, 1/8oz black buzzbait, 1/4oz chrome/blue or craw rattletrap, or a 7.5" red shad culprit worm. The onlt thing is the biggest ones are only around 3lbs. On the river I can get in em up to 10lbs. Biggest I've caught on the river was 12lbs but it was in a gill net so I couldn't keep it.

Those are big fish! My best catch was a 5lb smallie in the boundary waters. A lot of 4-5 lb large mouth along the way as well, but not the monsters that you're talking about.

Trolling yes, but I got to agree with fowl here bass fishing is probably the cheapest recreational fishing next to going for panfish.

No way. Fishing is just for fun for me. I have enough activities that I spend too much money on, and can't get enough of. Don't need to add tournament fishing to the list!

If you fished like me it would be expensive. I use $15 just getting to the ramp. The rig I use most times for stripers is $2.00 but if I'm using lures they can be anywhere from $5 to $15.. Guys who use minnows will spend $15 for a dozen jumbos. Salmon flat fish a $6-$8 a piece and spinners will run you $5 a piece. Factor in fuel food and boat upkeep and its expensive.

I understand the expense for game fish, as well as tournament fishing. But for the regular guy that does some rec. fishing, there isn't much too it...I have a few hundo in tackle and gear, but nothing like you guys.
