do cowboys call their boots...cowboy boots or just boots? Always assumed they called em just boots? That mean you're a drugstore cowboy?

I think danners are made in china for the most part now. Most overrated boot maker out there in my opinion, pure garbage.

I'm gonna have to disagree with ya...100%. There may be some better boot makers around, but they're far from garage. Comfortable and durable boots. What kinda work do you do in your boots?

not garbage, but i am a little disappointed in the durability of the sole. wish mine had a bit harder rubber since they are already showing pretty extensive wear. out of the box i wore them on a 18 mile hike, i was impressed.

I don't have experience with their work boots, just hikers/hunting boots. A good example, I spent $180 on the instigator GTX's and wore out the first pair in 3 months. Granted I used them pretty much every day, but they were not in good shape by the end of the 3 months. They were warrantied for a year, and Danner did send me a new pair (and fast!) but the new pair lasted about 5 months of very light use before the rubber sole cracked in half. I take good care of my footwear but it doesn't seem to matter with Danners. Their structural integrity doesn't last.

I have come to the conclusion that in the mountains, hiking boots do not last, period. Backpacking boots however seem to be built to last. I now have a pair of schnee's backpacking boots. They are amazing. They are as stiff as the day I bought 'em, and built to take abuse. I have had them a year now and used them pretty much the entire hunting season last year and really any time I hike at all in the mountains.

All hail the backpacking boot!

Most of my experience is with their work boots, the Acadia and Ft Lewis. They last forever. My two pairs are 9 and 13 years old and still going strong. Ones been resoled twice and the other 3x. I have a pair of pronghorn that are comfortable as heck but I haven't worn en enough to know how durable they are

I can promise the pronghorns wouldn't last more than a month in the mountains before they are more than useless. Steep hills and rocks do horrible things to boots. A good boot doesn't make you think about your feet when you're hiking.

She's doing we'll now. We were able to stop using the feeding tube out in late September thanks to the hard work of my wife, mother in law and therapists. The doctors removed the tube in February. She has started to eat solid food and is eating it more and more since the last few months. So everything is good. Kids that get a tube usually have it until the ages if 3 or 4. Magdalena was done before she was two. These are a couple of pics I took yesterday doing something we couldn't imagine last summer.

Given the track record I have had with them you really don't understand my hatred for them? A boot can be worn out and still look good on the outside.

I got after it when I lived in the mountains. Any boot holds up well if all you do is wear it around town or flatlands.

I totally understand what you mean. I hate cabelas neoprene waders, I've had horrible luck with them. Everybody else seems to like em fine. They just don't hold up in some the flooded stuff I hunt.
