What If

Postby assateague » Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:56 am

This Mars rover was cruising around, taking pictures, and some creature popped up out of the ground, and blasted it to smithereens. All of a sudden this "Mars exploration" thing would seem like a pretty dumb idea. I mean, it's not like we could do anything about it.

I've had a lot of coffee this morning. A LOT.

Hey Red, Jehler is right. Go buy the best camera and equipment you can find and make up a business card. You never know the whole picture taking thing could turn into a hobby of sorts that pays and, tax breaks don't hurt either.

Although in CA, it would probably take $8,000 and 9 months just to register a business. I still maintain a "construction management" company, and it only costs me $300 a year through the state. I lose money every two years, then make about $500 the third. But boy do I drive a lot.

Probably a sure fire way to never get audited in CA. There's too many of them for anyone to bother trying to keep them in check.

I heard its paid by how much you do, the skilled one make a good wage. I've been told some people from my area come down there for harvest time, work like crazy, then take the rest of the year off to smoke pot. Probably not a great living by most peoples standards, but I guess it works for them.

I have a DBA here in NY. It's pretty nice. Besides my normal business, I own Haynes Outfitters. I haven't seemed to get anyone to book with me in the past 3 years and I've got all these expenses to pay for like decoys, calls, blinds, and gas for scouting. Been losing money every year!

Yes, well, most of it. I can only write off so much of my income before questions start to pop up. If you know what I mean.

It ends up being around 2500 a year written off. So it's worth it to me to have the DBA, and the "books" aren't hard to keep when it's a relatively small amount of money. If you spend morethan 3k a year on hunting, it's worth it imo
