I thought Cali actually had some good upland hunting.

It does in certain areas, like the valley where my club is. I just don't do it. Pheasants get a pass usually and quail I will shoot if I jump them on the way back in from duck hunting.

How can you pass on pheasants???

I just don't care about them any more. I like to jump a few when I see them, but I usually don't shoot any.

Some of the high dollar clubs here are releasing some pretty wildly colored birds along with the wild ones. I have seen a pure white one, one that was all copper colored, one that was blue like a peacock, and a few that were kind of peach colored. Neat looking birds but I watched them all fly away.
