Last evening's prize was the male from my favorite, best producing, pair, and it was hard not to fuss when I saw it was bleeding from the beak. Couldn't find any, much less serious, external damage, however, and put the bird in the loft with slim hope of its survival. But I saw he was alive and throwing his weight around when I fed this morning. Hard to imagine what caused him apparent lung damage but didn't kill him.)
