What happened to the fan boat? Hope you don't have to run much sand.

The fan boats that I've been looking at are a little too spendy for me. The fuel and maintenance costs are high also. I've also been looking at surface drive/mud boats and although there is a lot of sand here there is pleanty of silt, mud and otherwise soft bottoms.

The boat is an Uncle-J 18'X54" with a 36 hp ProDrive outboard. Pictures later.

An excellent rig from what I hear. No joke on the maintenance on the air boats especially where you are. I'd never make it out from being broke on that reason alone!

Replaced crapped out Mojo teal (may have fried it with 9v batteries). First other-than-bullet waterfowl related purchase of the year.

lol no, pair of woodys came in crossing and the spinner just happened to be in between him and the bird when he shot. Got the woody, but the spinner is toast, shot in the motor, dented case, blew the battery and back right off the little guy

My "mudhole" blind is set up so that the whirligig acts as the safe boundary for shots on low birds on the dog stand's end of the blind, in order to preserve what's left of the coyote's hearing and head. The inviolate rule is "No low shots to the right of the Robo." And a few years ago a then 78yr-old annual regular, Jim, rocked the spinner smoking a low crossing teal. But when I got it stopped to survey the damage, Jim proudly proclaimed, "You'll note that I did not shoot to the right of the Robo:"
Image

That didn't, however, stop his buddies from holding a pre-hunt boat house ceremony to present him with a similarly shot up spinner rigged for hanging:

Am told it is, indeed, on his wall.

I didn't like the look of those in the catalogs. Feather pattern looked too busy.
