Can I still get in on this? Either early Dec or the Jan 18 spots would work. If I take Jan 18 I could probably manage to pick it up from QH's Paw.

Thank you! I was really hoping to put 8 honkers down. But they switched fields and I had to make due. But the ducks saved the day once again.

Decoy is en route to California. Hope you have as good of luck as I did Red. Nevermind the smell coming from the decoy. Thats just what success smells like haha.

Not a stellar opener, but better than expected. After scouting the last few weeks, my expectations were low. Sam and I took my buddy and his son along to a private mill pond on logging land. About a 15-20 acre pond. We hunt one corner that's covered in thick lily pads. Once the shooting in the nearby lagoons start, the birds typically come here to this corner. Well the mallards were a bit slow today. But at our surprise, the woodies gave us some action and saved the day.

Ended the day with just 8 woodies, 1 mallard and 1 teal. Charlie had a helluva morning fighting through those lily pads. We ended up losing 2 mallards and another woodie. Bummer.

Sam made a few great shots on passing and angling away woodrows. I was a proud daddy. He handled the nova great.

And wouldn't ya know it, the two times, my buddy and I set out in the canoe to search for the lost ducks, mallards come into the decoys, unbeknownst to the jaw jacking boys. The first time five light into the decoys bout 10-15 yards from the boys. From about 50 yards away, I yell "SHOOT DUMBASSES!" Cody isn't even holding his gun and Sam shoulders his and forgets to take his safety off. They flare. The second time was three mallards buzzing the decoys while the boys played grab ass.

Great morning though with lil Red, Sam and our buddies.

Looks like a hell of a time.

Ducks and geese are starting to trickle in up here, I'd guess you guys will start seeing some within the week.
To achieve success, one must possess dedication, passion and a boatload of decoys.
