No, you're not following me. I cooked the fish so I could make fish tacos, the wife just chose not to eat it in a taco shell. It was my intention of the meal.

Tonight the wife wanted to do a fish fry, but last night I was watching Diners Drive ins and Dives and the fuckers kept showing fish tacos, so I made my fish into tacos.

I'll concede, but this says your wife wanted fish. So you made fish.

The show made you want tacos, sooooo you compromised sharing a regular meal of fried fish to eat yours as tacos.

Same as if you made the pheasant into tacos. Saw tacos, wanted tacos, make tacos...

If your true intention was to do both, that may be different, BUT did that not appear to be the case from your initial statement.

Either way, you killed two birds with one stone which I think is brilliant.

The short version is: chose one or the other so that one person gets exactly what they want. A compromise generally leave both parties mildly disappointed. Easy example is: the wife wants Chinese but you want Mexican for dinner don't compromise and have Italian - you'll both be disappointed. Pick either the chinese or the Mexican, one of you will be completely satisfied.

It also forces you to be exposed to the "other side". If its really as bad as you thought it would be, now you can speak from experience. Sort of a "know thine enemy" thing. Or you might find some qualities in it that you didn't know where there.
