Looks awesome, one of my favorite meals. Still pissed I wasn't drawn for a goat tag this year.

I've been lucky and had a tag two years in a row. It maybe my favorite game meat. Some people thinks it's too gamey. That's good makes for less competition for the tags.

i like the gamey taste, if i didn't why would i hunt? i've never had a speed goat that wasn't excellent, and by far my favorite is no seasoning over a real fire.

The early season was hot. Went on a later hunt and it was a little cool but nice out. After already getting a female, thought the chances for a good rack would be less later in the year. I was wrong. He was the only male in the herd with about 15 does/fawns. Never had it measured but did get it mounted. The taxi said it was in or close to B&C score. Even he tasted good.

i grew up in the desert where 110 was common and even i'm starting to feel like Montana summers are too fucking warm. i can't imagine how it is for you.

i've seen many very nice bucks here, one for sure was B/C record. i'm going to put in this year since i now have a good idea of how to get one. guy i worked with this summer has awesome pics of one nearly eating out of his hand.

I have seen the hunting shows where they get close by waterholes or decoys. I was spot and stalking. If they saw anything they were gone. I low crawled to get most of them after realizing that. Also, I was stationed there for three years and in many areas of the southeast, I was acclimated.

we weren't hunting but we had very good luck getting into bow range this summer while walking fence in khaki colored stuff or carhartt brown. my hat was a light brown and black, i'm positive several were convinced i was one of them. i was pretty much head to toe khaki and brown, worked very well.

As soon as you put a bow or gun in your hand that will all change  JKing, hope it works for you. These speed goats in SD knew the deal and they didn't stop until they were out of sight.

could be, but for 3 guys to all walk into bow range in August we must have done something right  once the ones around us figured out we were fakes they hit that dusty trail and fast!

I was considered resident in the military. I will probably be moving to the Wash/Oreg/Idaho/Mont/Wyoming area in the next few years. Hard to pin down an area when you like them all. I love Ponderosa Pine sagebrush country.

it would be hard to decide with that broad of an area  you should look into the Helena area, or basically anywhere in Idaho above Boise  problem with Idaho is way too many people in the Boise area, but Montana has a fair number of Liberals moving in. I expect MT to end up looking like Colorado within 20 years based on what i've seen. several hubs of activity that dictate the state's voting and legislation. when i start looking for property i very well may move back to Idaho. Wyoming i think would be hard to live in work wise unless you're into oil or ranching.

anywhere in between basically has both

where at, Challis or Livingston? i've been seeing birds move through Bozeman, so i expect there are good numbers passing over the lakes to the southwest. problem is we're iced out. Challis i have no idea, i would imagine Payette Lake is froze over by now as well...shit in the southern end of the state should be money right about this time.

Livingston fly fishing during grasshopper season  I would have to have several ponds/creeks on my property that has a migration over it. Then plant corn and leave it unharvested around it.

Not the typical tripod household breakfast for dinner but I made french toast, hash browns, and bacon.
And my syrup was definitely not real maple syrup.
