Your other hobbies.

Postby T Man » Mon Dec 23, 2013 6:20 pm

I got this idea from another site, but what are your off season hobbies? I love to fish in the off season and am trying to get back into Autocross and building big HP small block Chevy motors.

My old race truck. 425hp and a ton of suspension and brake upgrades. It would destroy corvettes in a straight line or the twisties. I'm looking for a.donor truck to build an awd version.

After ducks. Sturgeon season starts up with a few trips to the pheasant club. Then dove food plots get put in.Turkeys and striper are next on my list of stuff I chase. After that I work at the property, with bass, cat fishing and a pig hunt or two mixed in their some where. Summer ends with salmon, dove, an archery deer season. With rifle season right after.

forgot to add: This year i'm going to give historical trekking a try. it's like backpacking, but you try to limit yourself to gear available in the 1800's.

I don't get into much the way I get into hunting. The off season brings preparing for the next season as my primary hobby...I also enjoy:

Golf
Softball
Fishing (catch and release)
Camping/hiking/canoeing
Target shooting (I am not Rex though)
I follow sports like its my job all year
Starting projects that I intend to fini
And a whole lot more...

I need to consolidate, and figure out what I'm going to have time for as the kids come and grow older...

i think so, plus if you can get to a point where you only need to bring a few items on a trip, you could really haul ass during elk season.

the only modern things i would think to be necessary would be a water filter and a modern med kit.

That's cheating. You either get typhoid fever or you don't. None of this Theory of Medium violating around here. 1800s or it's not. Take a jar of leeches and a bottle of whiskey, if you must have a medical kit.
