Here's the scoop. Scouted/ hunted a spot today just a little further down river. Good amounts of gadwall and teal, with a few spoonies and widgeon. Passed on all the big groups. Four groups of 10-15 floated in over decoys 20-25 yards out. Let em go. Hoping not to educate em to this spot. Plus my gun was hiccuping. Several more came by and looked but wouldn't come inside 40-50 yards. Did shoot two, a gaddy and teal. My guess is with 7-8 guns we coulda easily shot 14-15...at least. And that's not counting the buffies, bluebills and ruddies that buzz by.
The catch is we'll have to wade across the river. No big deal, it's only cock deep. Well cock deep for me is knee deep for some of you. Then walk down the sand bar a 1/4 mile. I can load all the decoys and blind bags in my canoe and drift down to lighten the load while you pussies walk.
It's more of a loafing spot on the river. I didn't see much til about 0800.
I plan on bringing out about 3 dozen decoys.
Does anyone have any duck standers they wanna bring to put on the bank? When I've sculled thru here, there're always sucks loafing on the bank.
