Tip for Trap Shooting...

I've bet you've heard a thousand times to focus on the bird and the bird only; that's a good tip but there's more you can add on to it to make it really work. As soon as you can see that bird, turn your focus to that bird as usual but what I want you to do is be aware of where your muzzle is. So your main focus is on the target but in your peripheral zone of that main focus, that you ackeknowledge that the muzzle is there and that is in front of the target. I see it all that time, people are focused on the target which is good but sometimes their hands haven't caught up to their eyes. Below is a picture of what I'm talking about in regards to main and peripheral focus.

Wait, what! Snow days? Never has happened in the all years I've been in school. This MT, we don't do fucking snow days! It could be -50 with 2 feet of snow, you still have to get your ass up and go to school at 7:30.

Then again I mostly shoot Sporting Clays...I find trap and skeet to be mind numbingly boring.

I wish I could enjoy SC, but Z-Z is shit, and their "skeet" range has a 5 foot tall mountain of dirt in the middle of the skeet field with cow pies littered all over.

I grew up shooting at my familes trap park. After shooting sporting clays at my buddies bachelor party a few months ago, I probably wont go back to trap/skeet. SC provides a much better hunting simulation than trap and skeet ever can, and is much more exciting. Watching a trap tie breaker makes me want to put my head in an oven. Same birds come out of the same houses at the same place.

I think my favorite shooting game is 5 Stand with 4 other good shooters....you can damn near melt a gun.

You need to get yourself in a trap tie breaker first! It's nerve racking, especially when there's some big bucks on the line. Skeet is the one that bores me.

When I was down in Cody, WY, they had a game like 5-stand but it's called flurry, now that will melt a barrel!

We set up a flurry at the DU fun shoot event every summer.

2 shooters per team, 10 traps, 40 targets in 60 seconds, reload on the fly. There are always 3-5 targets in the air.

I've seen guys literally blister their hands trying to keep up.

We also set up a station with 5-8 traps and call it the "flush" - one press of the button and all the traps fire simultaneously.
