Even if it's only to borrow for about a half a day. I could have three years worth of firewood ready to go in hours.

Damn, that would be fun to play with. Only problem is you wouldn't be able to use it on big stuff.

What size trees are you cutting down? Some of those logs were pretty big.

Diameter? That's a big MF'n tree. We chopped down a 38" cotton wood and that was a fun time getting that split.

That's why we look for trees around 18-24 " that we plan to use for firewood.

Getting a pretty good chunk of timber cut down at the cabin in the next year. I guess this guy has a new machine that will cut a 20" tree without stoping. Drive through it and onto the next one. I think he said he can cut and carry 5 or 6 20" trees before he has to go dump them. Whenever this guy starts I'll try and get some videos of it in action.

This one needed to come down. Don't know if you have cottonwood, but they suck ass if you have any within 10mi of your house.

Shit wood like aspen and cottonwood goes to the firepit. We burn mostly ash and maple for heat in the barn.

I wasn't too much older than him when I had my first firewood business. Me and a buddy made a ton of money on one of the coldest winters we had down here, ran out of seasoned wood and had to start cutting and selling it green. Of course we didnt have a skid steer log splitter, did most of the splitting by hand, or with a auger splitter than ran off the PTO on the tractor til I shattered my hand with it. We would cut and stack a load every morning and then look for scrap metal in the afternoon.

Yea, big red oaks have been dying off because of the droughts we've had. Heavy sumbitches to mess with but you get a lot of wood real quick.
