what i heard here is that you accept inferior products. American products still are much better than anything from over seas.

Show me an American made TV or telephone. Show me a car that is 100% made with products sourced from only us manufactures. I'm not talking about tires or engines I'm talking about the rubber and metal used to make those.

Nothing in this country is 100% American outside of food and probably lumber products. Even then I bet the nails were made over seas.

You're comment proves how little you know about the products you use everyday.

show me where i said that we make tvs or cars. things that we actually do make are usually far superior to foreign products.

and for the record, go look at where your food REALLY comes from. we export damn near everything we grow.

Thanks for making my point for me.

i can't make a point for you, your whole argument is pointless. the only point you've made is that you buy cheap shit from foreign countries.

Where do they get their ore? Or steel? Are the bearings in their rachets made here or outsourced? What about the plastics in their products. I'm sure they mold their own handles but what about the plastic beads? Are those made here what about the dyes used to color the plastic? Are the electric motors in their drills made here? How about the magnets or windings in the motors? The batteries? The copper in the A/C charger did that come from America?

Just because it says "made in America", doesn't mean it's made in America.

I don't know Olly I'm not debating you on this. As much as that shit cost I'd like to think its all American. But you are correct, America doesn't produce much just assembled it.

With our labor rate it would be nearly impossible for everything to be 100% made in the US. A TV would cost 10k a truck would cost as much as most of our houses.

When did I ever say that I don't buy "American" if I can? I love having shit that says made in America on it but to claim that JUST because it's "made" here its automatically better quality. Especially because when so much stuff "made" here is assembled with Components from elsewhere.

Leave me out of this. I'll buy Chinese made shit at Walmart all day long. Maybe when the government decides to stop confiscating 30% of my money, I'll have enough to buy something made here, or even to give a shit. But until then, I don't care. Perhaps if the "proud American workers" cared more about a job, and less about a union, something made in America wouldn't be twice as expensive as anything I can afford. So hopefully the guys on the Lucky assembly line are proud of their denim, but I prefer the 11 year old Indonesian sweat shop employee making my Wranglers, so I can buy them for $14.

yes it does, it's illegal to lie about country of origin.

from council tool's site:

"Our adherence to the first belief is evident the first time you pick up a Council hand tool. Our products are made of the highest-quality materials — American-made steel and American hickory. These are heavy-duty, professional-grade tools manufactured to the highest standards.

To maintain complete quality control, we produce all of our products at our North Carolina headquarters. We sink, repair and maintain our own forging dies and components in our own die shop. No tool leaves our plant without passing our rigid quality inspection process."

It's fucking crazy. I buy that shit up at garage sales and trade days when people don't know what they have. Other than that I'm probably not allowed to look at it.
