Waterfowl Safari and road trip

Postby RonE » Sun Feb 09, 2014 6:20 pm

This past season was pretty crappy but next year I will come into some more income and would like to go on a Waterfowl Safari.......That is to say, a road trip to the earliest beginning of waterfowl season and work my way south to catch the opening of our local season. Looks like our season will open Nov 1st and our break will December 1st through the 12th.

I would like to work in a trip to California during our break to visit brothers, sisters and friends and see my mother in Cupertino. Probably fly into San Jose or Oakland and take care of family the first day and hunt for 4-5 days.

We also have an early Teal season 9 to 16 days in mid September.

Probably would like to start with some early Honker hunting and then continue with geese and ducks working our way south.

My question is, when does your waterfowl season start. And what are the prospects of sharing hunts with you guys north of here.

South MI starts second weekend of OCT. Not that anyone would ever go to MI for the sole reason of duck hunting.

Nothing is carved in stone but it looks like it my be me and one other guy and we would probably start up in North Dakota or there about and shoot our way south. Bought my boat from a guy in Ill and shot ducks year before last with some guys down here from Iowa but absolutely nothing firmed up yet.

We open second week of October, I wouldn't recommend coming here in hopes of scores of waterfowl but, if you want the cast and blast experience ie , ducks, quail, stripers and largemouth AZ might interest you. A lot of seasons overlap down here.
