The what's for dinner thread!

Place for general and off topic Waterfowl talk.

tried a new recipe today... it was mouth watering.

2 and 1/2 pound chunk of venison back strap.
Injected with garlic butter and creole seasoning.
put in meatloaf pan, dump extra juices in pan with meat.
rub peppercorn and lawry's seasoning salt on top of meat.

place in oven at 500 for 15 minutes, then 375 for 15 minutes per pound.
let sit and rest for 5 minutes.

cut into stake size slices and pour juices from pan over each stake.

served it with breaded stake fries and broccoli.
Have you ever wondered why your dick still looks brand new, but your face is starting to look like an aging pirate?

Ya, the big one is a ling. That's why I originally took the pic of the raw fish, for Jim, to show the green color of the meat.

The one with the blue mouth is a cabazon, black and yellow is a china rock fish (I believe), and most of the others are black rock fish and blue rock fish.

Spear fishing them is a blast when you get the right tide. Little buggers blend into the bottom so well. Some times they are hard to see.

I thought some of them were oyster toads until I realized how big they were. We don't have anything like that around here.

Sonsabitches do look like oyster toads, which is reason enough for me not to eat one.

Oyster toads aren't too bad. About two months out of the year, I actually target them to sell on the live market. They have to be alive though, dead ones aren't worth shit.

This is a pic of some after I bailed them out of my holding tanks, right before they were loaded on a truck to go to Philly, New York and Quebec.

IMO, they taste like gray trout. Maybe just a little bit "fishier".

I'll mail you an oyster toad. Fresh. You can tell me how it is. Maybe the only way I would eat one of those nasty bastards is if it HAD been frozen since the 90s  But speaking of which, I need to go shoot some deer. I was digging for some pepper this weekend in the freezer, and noticed that I was getting a bit low on the deer.
