I don't know pecans about lights, except that I'm generally more interested in handiness than brightness and got hooked on little pen sized O'Reilly's promotional lights that were always there in a jeans pocket when I wanted a light - until they crapped out. Finally broke down, read a bunch of reviews and spent $30 for a Coast HP-3 "inspection light" that's just as thin and only a half inch or so longer. Is a bit heavier, which bugged me at first, but plainly more substantial and affords an adjustable beam.

Trouble was, I had to touch the focus bezel to get it to turn on after clicking the rear switch button when it hadn't been in use for several hours. So I e-mailed Coast to see if that was normal and got a very prompt return of "No. What's your mailing address."

Didn't ask for the boogered one back, so it's what I'm carrying now in the off season when quick, one-handed operation isn't an issue, while the new one, which works as it should, sits in reserve. No telling how long they'll last, but Coast gets points for CS.

FF has to use heavy weights Rebelp. The current on the river he hunts is swift. That's possibly why you two are disagreeing.
