If you ever do go, give yourself some time. A few hours before the race is plenty, to get the full experience. Stroll around, drink a few beers, look at the redneck spectacle that is NASCAR. Also (and this is important), they encourage you to bring your own stuff in. I've never been to the Phoenix race, but I can't imagine it's any different than Dover, Martinsville, Richmond, or Charlotte. You'll be shocked to see guys walking in with a case of beer on one shoulder, and 3 pizzas in the other. It's awesome. So don't forget the cooler full of ice and beer.

I usually get all freaky serious about march madness. Filling out the brackets for the pool.
I do two brackets.
One where I research teams down to which has winning streaks going at end of season...quality wins, bad losses, all that kinda shit on little file cards for all the teams so I can start picking.

Then I do a second:
Which mascot can whip which mascots ass?
When I get two teams that are both bulldogs or something equal I do a tie breaker of which team has cooler looking uniforms.

The year I did the best...got the sweet 16, elite 8, and final 4 correct on one of my brackets...it was the mascot one...lol.
