I'm happy as a clam. Thomas Hardy is awesome. Let me know what you want next- Jude the Obscure, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, UNder the Greenwood Tree, Return of the Native- you name it, we'll do that one after the Mayor of Casterbridge is done. Hopefully this thread will never die, because then I won't have any place to put these fantastic novels.

I had to do a skit of Beowolf in high school. I made a fake arm and when his arm was ripped off, I splattered the class with fake blood. Good times.

I don't think so. I really only like his westerns. Tried reading one about Vegas, set in modern times, and it was horrible, so I sort of shitcanned the idea of reading anything that's not western by him.

I highly recommend it, 3 book series. Next two are Texasville and Duanes Depressed.

Haha good stuff. I just had to read it, but once we were done the teacher said we were skipping all the work for it. Pissed me off that I read it for nothing but it was a good story.

I got hooked into his Berrybender saga, or whatever their name was, and got to book 4, I think, and now can't find them anymore. Irritating. Maybe I'll give his modern stuff a try again.

Haven't read them, actually haven't read a book in many, many years. The Last Picture Show was written in the 60s, became a movie starring Cybill Shepherd as a teen. Hard to believe she ever did anything besides Moonlighting!
