That's because they don't do a whole lot, and have to validate their job every once in a while.
I let my guys do their jobs their way for the most part unless their way is just plain stupid or it's fucking something up.

I've been fortunate to never have had a boss who micro managed me.

But I could see why it would be annoying.

One of my bosses while I was in MI was the worst at micromanagement and it drove me insane. So glad when he left.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

My boss is the king of micromanagement. We can't cut a plank or drill a whole without him making sure it is in the exact right spot. Really pissed me off when I first started... Kinda got used to it now though I guess.

Used to work in a huge plastics company. The engineering team got a little close and was telling company stuff they could not do.
For instance the chilled water tank. We'd used every hole in it and had pumps running to the max and the bosses insisted we could simply add more. I was furious because I designed the system and it was fully loaded. We needed another tank, more chiller, and what we had was at full capacity.
Another example.
We had our own substation inside the plant. Fully loaded and the bosses could not get it despite an electrical engineer saying NO MORE.

So they got Rick. (Prick) He was my boss. Lol
He wandered around the place doing laps for months. We laughed at him but one by one he pissed of team members and we left.
Broke up a GREAT TEAM. That company was team this and team that until you actually listened and bonded into a team.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

I had to get on a guy at my last course for coming in at the last minute and then going to take a 30 min dump as soon as he got there every day. I told him to either shit at home or get there with ample time to shit. We have a lot to do with very little time every morning

The shop closed down for 2 weeks because a log hole was drilled 1" off of where he thought it should be.

My boss is a micromanager. Tries to make me micromanage the crew. I just can't do it. I try to trust them to do stuff the right way. But I do nitpick when it comes to chemical applications. Usually just do it myself to insure its done right.

I was being far less than serious. The main thing I insist on is cleanliness and putting stuff back in the spot it belongs.

.
Cleanliness is hard to come by around here. I have a shop cleaning day once a month. Wash all the equipment and detail clean the shop.
Putting tools away is something I stay on their asses about.
My main concern is punctuality.
Get to work on fucking time,
I'm bout to have a talk with a guy in a few minutes that's been 20 mins late every day this week.
