The Main Library at Indiana University sinks over an inch every year because when it was built, engineers failed to take into account the weight of all the books that would occupy the building.

The Eisenhower interstate system requires that one mile in every five must be straight. These straight sections are usable as airstrips in times of war or other emergencies.

They never make mistakes.

Oh wait, they never admit to them even tho they have to "re-engineer" things once in a awhile.

It very clear to me that anyone who says something like this has no clue what engineering is.

Ha!

Nope, I only work with them on a regular basis and have seen it happen. Sometimes I'm consulted where there are constructibility issues. So yea I have no clue what engineering is.

There are often things that go on behind closed doors that tie an engineer's hands. Try to remember management often makes more decisions than engineers do.

Also, I have never met an engineer who wouldn't admit fault, they might not say it to you, but if they are "re-engineering" something they have already admitted it to someone.

Architects, on the other hand, are shitheels who live on some fantasy land where physics and gravity don't apply.

That is where a civil engineer is supposed to come in, isn't it?

Not gonna disagree with you on that.

For the most part, engineers are pretty good guys.

I've been thru some situations where there was a clear mistake, but somehow it was re-engineered and the problem went away. If its not their problem, it gets fixed not re-engineered.

Like I said, most are good guys. It's just the bad ones stick around in your mind for a while.
