The material has been temperature stabilized to 72 degrees so that on cold days the call will feel warm and on warm days the call will feel cool. The old guy promised be the calls no later than a week before the regular season...I can't wait. The calls will be somewhat expensive and the maker asked me not to mention his name. This will use up my entire stock of unobtainium so please don't pester me for any of this material. As you know unobtainium weights less than the water it displaces so it floats if dropped in the water and being temperature stabilized it will dry out quickly and never ice up.

I'm not a call freak. What brand are you loyal to?

I don't know much about cut downs but you guys have gotten me real interested in trying them out, which one would you recommend I try?

No that's just a myth.

I was half joking, but only half. Cutdown reeds are 40% thicker than regular call reeds, so to get them moving as you would another call, either takes more wind or a different presentation of it. Takes no great effort for me to put together a pretty mean string of loud, hard quacks on a big-bored regular call pushing air straight from my diaphram to the call through the reference word "whack". But to get a cutdown's trademark "bark" that way takes "WHACK"s that burn me out PDQ. For me, it's much easier to get that thick reed moving by initially gating the air with my tongue to let it build pressure before being released to the call by changing my reference word to "duck," the "d" of which begins with my tongue against the roof of my mouth backing up air so more is released at once when it's dropped.
I suppose your mileage may vary, but you've been warned.

I like my new black monster. Only cutdown I've really ran though. If you want one you better hurry though.
