The hell do you need another outboard for anyway? Do you buy one to match every camo outfit you own?

So who do we know from Texas?
$2000 is a great deal if the boat is water ready.

I sold the Johnson. Decided to stop being cheap and get a good one and apparently Im wasting the guys time. $1,000 is fair for that engine and its the top of my price range. If that dude wants to be a dick and say im wasting his time with a reasonable offer....I'm an asshole and I'm gonna be a dick back x1,000,000.

Only a dick head would call someone a dick head and still expect him to deal.

Never claimed to be not a dick head myself
It kinda chapped my ass for him to say I was wasting his time with a reasonable offer on just the motor. Coulda said "no thanks" or "sorry I can't do it at that price" it's what I say to people no matter how ridiculous their offer is. I'm sure "don't waste my time" is the norm in other parts of the world but I'm really not accustom to people who do business in that manner. I do a lot of buy sell trade on Craigslist and get fed up sometimes, then I just unload on somebody.

How did you expect him to take it? He was selling a boat/motor/trailer combo, not just a motor, you were actually wasting his time.

Sorry shoulda provided a back story.
He had the motor on there last month for sale by itself. $1,500 Obo. And that's a bare bones model. Every other on like that I've seen has electric start and tilt/trim.
Anyways dude told me the motor was sold. Then I see it posted up again. Same pics same phone number. So that's why I made him an offer on just the motor.
It's Craigslist. He didnt pay any money. It's free. How is making him a cash offer on something that's for sale anyways wasting his time?

I sent a guy a screen shot showing the NADA value of his boat and told him he needed to drop the price $2000. The guy called me on the phone and called me an asshole. Then hung up.

Woody , post a pic of your truck so we can argue about its value and further waste even more time.

What kind of boat are you searching for and what is your price range?

I agree with Flint- "don't waste my time" is an invitation to chicanery.

I blame it all on today's technology, I bet neither of these two would've acted this way in a face to face transaction.

I like how you emphasized cash like anyone on craigslist would take anything but.

Having heard a member describe how he drove a couple hundred miles, met some Mexicans at an exit on the interstate, and did a truck deal involving thousands of dollars in cash...
I think I'd prefer a money order from the post office in that kind of deal.
Mailing cash to buy duck calls is another reason I use money orders.

Some people just gotta use cash because they want absolutely no trail...another reason to avoid large-cash deals. It's just foolish to not get receipt or something or else one day in the future a cop is gonna say, "you mean you don't have a receipt or anything?". 50/50 will seriously bite your ass in that case.

It wasn't a highway exit, it was a strip mall parking lot. And between me and my buddy, we had 3 pistols and a shotgun  I've never seen that much money in a brown paper lunch bag before, either, for what it's worth.

I've heard or read the same story at least three times from three separate people. Forget who told what but all similar.
Each time I've bought a vehicle outright the seller took me to my bank and cashed a check.
Me? I drive mine til the wheels fall off and somebody always comes begging.
I sell it to them for like $300 or something like that in cash.
Sold my old pos exploder for $250. The tires were probably worth that easily.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.
