Im not hip on the goings on over at the other site. But what do you guys mean when you say "its goin under?" Seems like they have decent to great sponsorship and a shit load of members. Are you guys just talking about the general attitude of the forum or what? Cuz I dont think its losing money. Lol

I think most of what they are referring to is...

1) That the grand majority of the regulars here were once the regulars there.
2) They have a lot of members who get on, post once or twice then never come back.
3) The owners who Chris sold it to seem to have little interest in investing time or money in the site. (the spam problem)
4) There are some intentional dickheads over there, they scare off the new guys before they can even get comfortable.
5) There is a lot of hostility between members
6) and there are cliques

2,4,5, And 6 apply to every forum in existence.

I became a Member over there years ago. What you just listed off sounds like the Cali forum. Thats why I didn't go back. I never jumped into the HH threads. Sounded like a fuckin Death trap.

The difference here "to me anyways" their is a little hazing that goes on before you are treated like a regular. The other site is just a bunch of dicks and thats all they strive to be are dicks.

Oh and for the record I wasn't so much as trying to steal members as trying to pass you guys a life line. I have tried several times to help you guys stop the spam and it's obvious that the owners won't get that under control and don't give a shit about your members there or the site there.

Thought it would be a nice gesture to remind people over there, there is another forum that doesn't have any of those issues with a very active user base and where the owner actually cares about the site and the members.

It may be allowed here, and that's fine, but its still not allowed there and you know it. Other than completely ignoring our spam problem, I have very little to gripe about vs. They let us run the forum as we see fit.

You've got a really good thing going here Olly, I don't know why you still have this need to prove anything to DHC. Who is your gripe with there still? Cgh is gone. Nick Roehl is gone, chris is gone...Why not focus on what sets you apart, instead of trying to continually parallel dhc? Your own mpt, and Hawaii forum among other things? Cmon. Although it reads this way, there isn't any condecention in what I'm saying, in fact quite the opposite.

I'm still not sure how the ship is sinking, the mods and admins are getting along working toward a common goal for once, sponsorship hasn't changed much out of the norm, membership isn't declining much, if at all. The only thing wrong is an administrative issue that we chose to address in the open forum for two reasons:

1) to let the members know we (the mod/admin staff) are doing all we can on our end.

2) to try to draw some attention from vs.

To attack the moderation staff for the spam problem is weak. Those guys are doing all they can. As you well know Olly, there is only so much we can do on our end without the proper board permissions. If you really have a problem with how vs runs dhc, then email them directly and let them know you arent happy with the problem. Either be part of the sollution, or let it go. Anything else is a bunch of chest thumping and posturing with no results.

Were not car salesmen here. Its not a one or the other kind of thing. People will be active members where they feel most comfortable. For some its wff, others its dhc. The mod/admin staff has been around dhc for a long time, and arent ready to turn their backs on it yet.

I've said it before and will say it again. I like both sites. I do miss the good old days before the split, which is part of the reason I'm on here, to keep up with you assholes I call friends. Some people don't and that's their prerogative. If they don't like dhc I don't know why they continually come on bashing it. Do your own thing as a site and we will do ours, which will end in success for both of us.
