It may be allowed here, and that's fine, but its still not allowed there and you know it. Other than completely ignoring our spam problem, I have very little to gripe about vs. They let us run the forum as we see fit.

You've got a really good thing going here Olly, I don't know why you still have this need to prove anything to DHC. Who is your gripe with there still? Cgh is gone. Nick Roehl is gone, chris is gone...Why not focus on what sets you apart, instead of trying to continually parallel dhc? Your own mpt, and Hawaii forum among other things? Cmon. Although it reads this way, there isn't any condecention in what I'm saying, in fact quite the opposite.

Certainly not forever, but I'm not ready to jump ship yet.

There are some of us who have one foot in each ship as long as the two are sailing along parallel...
The bigger ship has changed course several times it's hard to say which way it'll go next.

Things seem stable here and the deck is dry. We got rum and lotsa biches so naturally some rats are swimming over to see.

Had to bump this back up. I literally laughed my ass off at work reading this. Betty about 99% of the shit you write is utter nonsense, but the 1% gold is worth it. We got rum and lotsa bitches, WFF for life!

My hunts are not boring. You'll see more mallards in one day than you see in 5 seasons of where you hunt.
Maybe more.

It starts with me getting to launch at around 4 am. I try to be in the first six boats launched. The boat ride is about 1.5 miles down a lane with trees on both sides. Then I turn into the woods and only go in about 2-300 yards. The hole is well hidden.

At about 6 ish the birds are coming over in waves and it lasts about two hours. Vee after vee...
You have to call a lot. You'd probably like that.
When they come to land do not shoot the first bunch. Other are watching...let a bunch land and then wait for the second. Shoot second coming in and then shoot the ones from the first bunch...triples are completely possible. Happens a lot.

That sounds like a blast. I don't call much because I suck at it.

Personally, I don't get the mallard fascination. But that's probably a product of my location and upbringing, rather than an indictment of the mallard culture.

I don't get it either. I'd rather shoot green. I've let op shoot a lot of ducks...maybe that's it. Mallards make me look good.

"Nothing but green brah"

I don't get it either. The only thing I don't like shooting are ringnecks because they are such a pain to skin.

The only one's I won't shoot are coots, and mergansers. Hens will get shot as part of the legal daily bag limit also.

Every once in a while weird shit happens. Landed a flock of teal once (small timber hole)
Another hunt...we got a bull pintail to land in the woods. Then a drake widgeon.
Mostly green but again, weird stuff happens if u go every day.

One day last fall I had a pair of Canada geese working and trying to get in..lol
Snows fly over low enough but no way am I shooting a snow and chasing away mallards.

easy now. "Brah" is a word frowned down upon on this side of the tracks

It's ok to say brah...the new ebonic equivalent is "cuz" short for cousin.

Every black guy on the planet is my neighbor's cousin. Kinda weird because I used to think he actually meant his cousin. Then one day he introduced this gay Mexican as his cuz...and I about lost it.

I don't get it either, I just like the bigger ducks because there's more meat on em. mostly gads and pintails up here, quite a few greenwings as well. not many mallards where I hunt. I don't even care really if I shoot a ton of birds, I just like the scenery.

I'm at the trophy stage of hunting but too poor for taxidermy so I have to be happy about limiting and its way easier when you have a million mallards around and have scouted them for years.
I got the place I go to figured out so well...
I know exactly what field they feed in and where they roost. Never changes and its made it awful easy for me. I got them patterned.
Set up between the roost and where they feed.

Oddly enough...the birds I hunt eat in SEMO and roost in NE Ark.

They fly around fifty miles round trip. In poor weather they might do it twice a day. You can tell when you shoot one... Heavy and big, lotsa muscle. Fat rice-fed greenheads.

I drove thousands of miles to figure it all out.

that would be cool too, but it is pretty sweet to hunt just outside of Yellowstone, and to hear wolves while waiting for lst.

Mallards are the dumbest ducks around here. I'm glad you guys find them a trophy. At least somebody enjoys the leftovers.

I'm just not picky. I pretty much shoot everything. I'm not a fan of sitting in a blind with a thumb up my ass waiting for maltards to come in at 9, just because I like the view or to "get away." I love shooting until it slows down and getting the fuck out of there. I'm still young and have shit that needs to get done during the day.

Can't beat big flocks of late season mallards. The last two weeks this season was the most fun I've ever had duck hunting. Never woulda thought I'd see mallards on public water in Michigan like I did this year.
