If that's the dream, feel free to come up and live the dream for about 40 times that.

I cut a lot of wood. My SIL likes splitting it.
Been burning pallets. I have a huge stack and its growing.
My goal is to have 300+ pallets cut up in pieces by fall. Nice dry oak burns so hot and bright.

For any of you bad asses that don't need a splitter, I welcome you to come do my pile. 24" - 28" length and around 15 full cord a year.

Settle down girls. Its just a picture of some split wood. This tree was in the wrong place, and it has been removed. Another splitting session and it will all be a memory and the wood will be used for home heating.

Atta boy TK.

Earth day is coming up, and everyone gets a big dick over planting trees. I don't get it. I think we should all go cut a few trees down. There's more adult trees in North America now than there was when it was discovered. I'm taking them out as fast as I can, and those stupid assholes just keep planting more.

Did you do any burning this spring, TK?

If you are counting cedars as adult trees, I'll believe that.

Interesting factoid about trees.
Cities plant male trees whenever possible. Less mess is the theory. Brilliant! (Not)
Turns out male trees make more pollen and that causes more allergy problems.
Great example of govt. doing what is right to make the most people happy. (Miserable actually)

I would say between boiling sap and heating the house on the weekends my dad goes through quite abit of wood... all of which I split by hand.

Standard 14-16 and that is all fine. 24- 28...no thank you

I'm not sure the length we cut to... It's the length of the bar on the chainsaw (that's how I measure it).

You can buy a free standing gas stove with a glass window and ceramic logs and not have to fuck with fucking firewood and the fucking mess a wood fucking fire makes. On/off switch, blower and thermostat. Burning wood sucks and it is too much work for the BTU's that it produces.

I get free pallets, cut them with a circular saw. Takes about 5 minutes per pallet.

RonE...you're a good guy and own a natural gas pipeline that leads to Kansas. Right?

Nice try Ron.

I love splitting wood by hand don't get me wrong. Its just damn near impossible at those lengths. In fact, the reason I don't cut them longer is because my 30 ton splitter only opens to 29". My boiler will take 36"

The shorter you cut them, the more you have to split. Everything I cut for splitting is probably 22-26. As long as it can be and still fit in the stove.

I love swinging ax. Wanted to join the timber sports team here relly bad, but never could make it fit with my work scedule. Maybe later in life...

The part that sucks is that I cut a lot of dead standing timber, of which the majority is elm. Great for burning but can suck my ass for splitting. I think at has some experience with elm

Piss on elm. We don't even bother dragging it out, but we have acre upon acre of Ash. Great splitting wood.

I didn't think there was anything worse than gum, and I'm not sure elm is. But if not, it's awful damn close.

Elm is about the best burning wood in my boiler unfortunately. I am gone from home 12 hours a day for work and its always still hot when I get home but never seems to burn super hot like ash and cherry do for me. I probably burn 50% elm, 25% maple and 25% beech, cherry, ash mix

Bought wood one winter. ALL the people around here that sell firewood are selling city trees that tree services cut down. Its corn field county.

So they all sell "hard wood" and to be honest...the nearest oak forest is either 50 miles north or 40 miles east.
Starting to understand why I'm burning FREE oak pallets?
