My guide buddies at Bayou Bottoms kill between two and three THOUSAND ducks a season out of TWO blinds in Arkansas. This is a very good duck call for $80

Until then enjoy a couple duck blinds that are no longer there. There were almost 200 blinds. AGFC burned them all down last summer. Those blinds are history...and it's gone.

Been thinking about my call and doing a demo. Sorry but I took the second reed out and re-tuned as single. Don't want to misrepresent.
The call will ring your ears as a double or single. After a little while sitting next to a guide using one...you will be looking for your ear plugs.

apparently fooled me. Gather you meant a "toneboard" that slides, rather than "j-frame". What you've pictured looks like a typical "Louisiana style" setup with separate toneboard and insert sleeve, such as used by Haydel, Faulk and others here, as opposed to a "Arkansas style" or j-frame getting its name from the one piece toneboard and insert configuration:

Or do the toneboard, wedge and reed all bottom out on something in the insert, rather than their position being dependent on wedge placement?

Are you aware the Arkansas J-frame was invented by an Illinois man? They insist that Arkansas has to be in front.

Mind you I'm not really from Louisiana and just a dumb hillbilly, but aside from the call's guts having no j-frame, sliding or otherwise, and being far from unique, "Louisiana style" seems to have less letters than

You're right. Its been fun.
Phillip Olt patented the j-frame in 1905.
The person who patents an invention is generally given credit for inventing it but that's usually false. For instance barbed wire. It was invented by two men from same town at almost the same time. They both applied for patents but one used the word "twist" in the description and was awarded the patent.
