A good goose hunt is on my bucket list, but will have to travel to do it. Very few geese come to coastal Alabama, and those that do, rarely stop. I always hear them flying overhead at night in November, usually during stormy weather, but they don't stop here, only laugh at me from afar as they pass by in the darkness........dammit! Loves me some duck hunting, but have no means of comparing the two, and have only killed a half-dozen geese in 40+ years of hunting. Have watched them vortexing into a field in N. Miss a few years back, and if I would've been in a ground blind in the middle of it, would've been jacking off :o

Hands down Geese any day. Preferably over water vs a field. , tons of fun.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

Could we do this again as a poll?
I'd like to see if it's 50/50 split...or more like 60/40.

Two pintails, two red heads and two widgeon I'll take any day and the same for a limit of specs and snows. However six widgeon I would take over anything. For some reason widgeon are the prized duck around here. When I hunted in California, widgeon were considered junk ducks and pintails were prized.

Kingfishers are badass, don't see what that has to do with not killing ducks.

Guys tell me they're tough in some parts of the country, but if a bird here is going to touch its toes and drop on a whirligig like a kamikaze on a aircraft carrier, it's a gray. Here, they tend to favor the brackish marsh to our freshwater, so maybe those that do come our way are just lonely.

The blind stake I hunt by was about 50' from waters edge last fall. The lake was low low and no water had went over the dam in years.
Was killing a lot of Gadwalls for a few weeks when they came thru. Normally don't see them because they stay on the skinny skinny water. (At that lake)
There's big flats where the two feeder creeks enter the lake. Teal and gads stack up where my boat can't get to. :(
