There is a theory and I may or may not have accepted it.

According to recently translated Mayan texts the Earth was visited by aliens called Anahten (Anaten, something like that).

The Anahten genetically modified apes with their own DNA to create a slave race to mine gold for their space empire.

Its ruled by cats so no wonder a cat would save a child from the vicious enemy from the dog-star. :)

Here is a fact.
The dog in the video is a lab-chow mix. NOT A PITTBULL.

So? At no time was this about pit breeds only. This is about ownership of dogs that were breed for aggressive traits and how our society acts so shocked when a dog that was breed to attack something actually does so. Chows being one of those breeds.

You still haven't provided proof of your theory that "something MUST have happened off camera to provoke this".

I know it has been tried. But several years in a very small region hardly qualifies as "worldwide eugenics" across the human race.

I agree but you said "to the best of my knowledge, humans haven't been specifically bred for certain traits." so I wasn't sure if you were aware or not.

We all know how well the Nazi Arian experiment worked out. Those who weren't killed by the Allies ended up as slave labor in Russian labor camps until they were worked to death.

You haven't disproved the theory either.
You just insist it's wrong "because you said".

Lets not argue about something so trivial.

You are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. I never attacked your attack of my theory but you just gotta be right.

Maybe you are. :)

I didn't have to, the evidence presented to us clearly shows a different story than your claim. It's up to you as the challenger to the video and wildly accepted scenario of a vicious chow/lab or chow/pit mix to provide proof of your claim.

Dog gamnit I'm trying to watch Daniel Boone and you want to argue about cats and dogs. :)

You win. Its not even possible that such a cute little boy could ever do anything to piss off a lab chow mix.

Happy?

Pits have been bred specifically for a wide variety of traits - and also bred without regard for meaningful traits. Same with gun dogs, and I choose to hedge my bets by looking for individuals with their breeds that were bred to suit me, rather than putting any faith, whatsoever, in meaningless breed generalizations.

If I were ignorant enough to fall for breed generalizations, I certainly wouldn't have had the Chessies that have served me and mine so well. Might have gotten a Lab that chewed up the grandkids, instead.

While of course I'm also not a geneticist I do understand the very basics of genetics and maybe a little more than basics. This knowledge is where I base my stand that you cannot teach a dog that has been breed to be aggressive to not be. You can only breed it out of them over generations and generations of breeding. Could pits and other attack breeds one day not have the genetic disposition to be attack dogs? Absolutely. Has that time come? I don’t think so.

You'd be surprised how quickly a trait can be eliminated.
I read a lot about experiments on domestication of red foxes.
Its very interesting how within three generations the ears were dropping and tail changing too. All they did was separate aggressive from non aggressive foxes.

I think breeding is geared towards providing the tools or morphology to a sub species for a desired job performance. Training seems more influential on disposition. While disposition may be selected for it seems more likely better trained for. What's curious is the idea of breeding for a big jaw, longer snout, etc changes the skull structure which could change an animals disposition or behavior just by shifting around brain structure.
