It was. I am truly impressed with the little boat. It's very stable. And even with me in it it feels like it could draft in just a few inches.

That's what I'm hoping for. The "river" I hunt gets extremely choked up with salt cedars and some spots are pretty tight.

RickC, do you paddle yours? I'm thinking about going with an electric trolling motor but the car battery would be a lot of weight.

I've done both, mainly paddled. I use a kayak paddle, dont recall the length of the paddle I just bought (I broke my first one) but I will measure it and let you know. The only thing about paddling this boat is it wasnt designed for it, its more of a polling boat. But as long as you're not planning on long distance and going against any strong currents its not too bad.
Im hoping to build a 3hp longtail for it before the season starts to use in some places that are a couple miles or more away from the launch point.

I had considered that too, seems like it would be a good candidate for one of them weedwhacker long tails.

I'll probably order the motor from harbor freight next week and the kit a couple weeks later.

8ft to the inch. My pickup has a short bed and that was a big factor for me.

I want one I can lock in the back of my truck. So about 6'6". Trying to see if anyone has made one that small and if it works.

Honestly, the and on this were wide open. I'm no hydro engineer but I see no reason this wouldn't work being trimmed to 6'6". I did everything custom after getting the initial layout.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm just going to wing it with mine and see how it goes. If it don't work, I'm out 2 sheets of plywood and a little fiberglass. I want to build a bigger one some time that will fit 2 people and planning on putting a longtail on it. Figure I can work out some kinks on the little ones.
