Camo dip at home

Saw a video on Facebook that I tight I might try to do with camo colors, then saw on YouTube someone doing it with camo colors

I have a Stanley thermos I'd like to camo and will try this stuff out. Will use method One. Going to start out with painting it flat black. Then dip it later.

Started out cleaning in real well with dish soap and a 3m scrubber. Then painted it black.

Heated it up with this before painting so the paint cures fast.

That came out awesome AB! Which method did you use?

The first one. I used a Rubbermaid storage tub about half full of water. Sprayed the two colors. Stirred it with a stick.

Most of my dark brown paint stuck to the tub. I stirred wrong. Try to not get any on the sides.
I got the look I was going for kinda. Surprised me. Expected to do it at least twice.

You guys don't realize how much shit I'm given for hunting timber with that "white" dog.
Somehow it's not that big a deal because he hides in the blind.
Most people don't know my boat has a blind. Its very compact and unique but also very effective.

That's how I got away with the silver thermos.

I thought about the boat too, lol. I THOUGHT about it though (mind numbing day at work). My idea probably wouldn't work because of the pressure put on the boat to do it, but fill the inside of the boat with water, spray/drip the paint in the water, then pull the drain plug to let the pattern fall on the sides/bottom of the boat.

I doubt it would work, one because that's a lot of weight/pressure going the wrong way on the boat, and two because it probably wouldn't stick like you want it to.

Another tip:

If you decide to do a second coat...you probably will because the bottom gets more paint than the top as you dip.
If u decide to second coat START OVER with clean water and fresh paint. If you don't...the paint from first coat that's still in the water gets globby and folds on itself. Your finish will be a bit lumpy if you get any globs .

No big deal on a thermos but on a gun it would suck.

What about the outside of the boat?
Attach it to a crane and sink it upside down in a pond. Do your paintjob on the water over where the boat is submerged then pull the boat up through the pattern.
Camo dipped boat.
