good idea. I would like to do it in the valley if those boys can work it out and if the water situation is rightAKPirate wrote:Redbeard wrote:Tim...Mike...what're your thoughts? If I host, I'm thinking bout doing it earlier like late oct/ early nov. But the location has been chosen yet
My recommendation for location is to see what the water situation is like and make a decision later rather than sooner. I don't think I should get much of a vote on when because I would like it closer to the Christmas timeframe when I visit my family in Washington, but I don't want to drive the rest of you to that timeframe. I am also pretty adaptable to any plan so whatever you guys decide should be workable.

cause if the weather is as calm as it's been the last two years come January, the early season would be better hunting. And it's not decided yet anyhow where or who's hostinghuntfishnv wrote:Why're you thinking so early Red? Not expecting much of a migration this year? Got my class schedule for next year and I can swing pretty much any weekend, or should be able to. Are you thinking refuges?

If nobody specifically wants to host it I think it'd be cool idea if we all met up and camped out and hunted somewhere. Maybe get some barbecue going and have duck camp for a few days, especially if we shoot for early season that could be a great time.
Just throwing out another idea.

This year, with the weather in Cali, it may not be so badass. I believe that is why they are holding off on deciding where it is held, because if the weather stays on it's current path, there will be little to no water to hunt in the valley.

We have been trying to figure out how to do a hunt in the Valley and trying to guess about the water situation. The problem with the Valley is how to get a group of guys out together. Breaking the group up and doing seperate smaller hunts is possible, but not as much fun as a group hunt.

Depending on where in the check you are, couldn't you set up layout blinds next to the pit?

I hunt a natural club and Boot hunts the rice. Not a lot of room on the check for blinds and I am limited on the number of guests I can bring.
