Assa explain this to me. I some how missed the explanation a while back and never bothered to catch up.

I watched a movie last night called 50/50 and it had a theory that either something will happen or it won't no matter how crazy unlikely the outcome.

This is Urban Dictionary's detention too.

A theory that subscribes to the notion that there are only 2 outcomes to any kind of situation. It either will happen, or it won't, no matter how unrealistic. There is therefore 50% chance either way.

Also used to piss someone off, in an un-winnable argument.
Anybody: Oi, Gimp, Scunthorpe Utd will win the Champions League within 3 years.

The Gimp: No they won't, Man Utd will.

Anybody: Fuck off Gimp. 50/50 theory says there is a 50% chance they will. Its simple, they either will or they won't, there are only 2 possible outcomes so fuck off!

Is that close to your 50/50 theory? Or am I totally off on what it is?

It's not obvious to me. I really did miss the original explanation of his theory. Whether an old grumpy man who get's his panties in a bunch because of some guy 3000 miles away believes me or not has no bearing on the truth. No matter how much you want it to.

Gonna be pitching it to NBC sometime around the end of the year.
It's about a guy who lives in Maryland and is really cheap, and hilarious shit goes wrong for him all the time. In the first episode he shoots a pesky emu and builds a welder. Gonna be tv gold.

Ok Olly, even though it's against my grumpy old man better judgement, I will attempt an explaination.
You're a computer geek so you should be able to grasp binary code. Everything is 1 or 0 at it's most basic. On or off only two options. Even ASCII's 128 characters are based on binary at it's purest. Hexidecimal is the same in a computer it's all 1 or 0 at the most basic level. With only two choices, what are the odds? Obviously 50/50. 1 or 0. It is the way of the universe.
